One of the things I like about pastels is experimenting on different surfaces just to see how the medium reacts to various papers. This small sketch was done on green sketching paper which worked quite well as the support and the green provided an interesting foundation for the portrait colors.

This has the impact of a much larger work than it actually is. What talent when a sketch is worthy of being a gallery piece!
I really like everything about it, the composition, color, everything. Is it a study for a larger work?
