I blocked in some warm and cool swatches in the body and tail. I used a charcoal pencil to block in the general outline. For me, the drawing needs to be very basic and will probably will change as I start to block in major mid-tones.

This is a painting I'm working on that will be donated (one of those things that artists seem to do on a regular basis) to the Denim and Diamonds ...a charitable organization that raises money for new equipment for the local hospital....Wake-up Call will be a early morning rooster on LaCarte paper with NuPastels, Rembrandt's. Terry Ludwigs and Unsions. The size is 11" x 14" !C&C welcomed!My first step is nothing more than blocking in a pattern of warm and cool colors with my softer sticks. This approach will be a little different that my past WIP's because I'll be using a little bit more of a linear approach to get this thing going.I will be working from a small thumbnail done earlier!

I had to take a week and reorganize the studio as well as trying to get our kitchen done. Hopefully the daily posts will now be more frequent. This is a sketch I finished yesterday foe a larger painting I hope to have finished today and will post it as a WIP.
